Here is a clip of Lydiard Hill Bounding exercise, demonstrated by Nobby Hashizume over the hill circuit Lorraine Moller uses to coach her runners.  This was taped during the hill training session of “Lydiard Coaching Certificate Clinic” in Boulder, CO, in July 2013.  “Not too bad for a 54-year-old!!” says Nobby!

Lydiard Hill BoundingThis is one of the best exercises to eliminate running “sitting in a bucket” by pushing hard off with a back leg.  The 1972 Olympic 1500m champion, Pekka Vasala of Finland loved this exercise and used to do it a lot.  Lydiard liked to encourage all his middle distance and distance runners to do lots of hill exercise to develop strong and supple strides.
