Hosted at idyllic Mellington Hall, in scenic Powys. Complete with running trails, hills woods, park and fields. Adjacent to the Offa’s Dyke path, this is a superb course venue.

Arthur Lydiard Course

Lydiard Endurance Coaching is the basis for most of today’s world-class training methods. The weekend course teaches the theory and application of coaching individuals of all ages and abilities. Using both classroom and practical sessions, coaches will learn how to set up a training plan, how to peak a race using specifically-timed workouts, creating optimal recovery and performance.

Taught by Olympic medalist, Lorraine Moller MBE. In a 22 year international career, Lorraine ran for New Zealand from 800m to 10,000m on the track, with world-class performances over cross country and road. Lorraine was the New Zealand record holder over 1500m, a triple Commonwealth medalist and a four-time Olympian from 1984 to 1996. Lorrain has won 16 international marathons (including Boston) with Lydiard conditioning and peaking.

We have been conducting the Lydiard™ Coaching Certificate Clinic (I & II) in its present two-and-a-quarter days format since the spring of 2013.  The course starts out on Friday evening showing the awesome historical development of Lydiard™ training from its modest neighborhood development to becoming the most widely used performance training system in the world for endurance sports.

On the following days, we cover the theory and application of Lydiard™ Training so that every participant can write a Lydiard™ schedule and know that every workout has its purpose and place to optimize the training and racing of any athlete.

There are practical sessions on Saturday and Sunday of the quintessential Lydiard™ hill training and the sharpening session of 50/50’s. With lively discussion and case studies we nearly always run out of time so, we have introduced a new schedule with added hours to make Lydiard™ I&II a 20-hour course.

Participants must pass exam requirements for L2 Coaches Certification.

Friday 21st September    1 pm – 7.30pm
Saturday 22nd September     9 am – 5.00pm
Sunday 23rd September      9 am – 4.00pm

  • Full Course Fee (BACS or cheque) £360.
    Deposit £180 – Full payment due by July 31st.
  • Returning Alumni £180 (Limited space)
    Fee includes: Course manual, textbook.
    Lunch, morning and afternoon teas for 3 days.
